The Polish University Championship: Marek Konwa and Katarzyna Solus-Miskowicz the best!
In played on 10-12 of May 2013 in Jelenia Góra the Academic Polish Championship Mountain Bike triumphed Marek Konwa and Katarzyna Solus-Miśkowicz (both Wszechnica Kielce).However, in very important for academics team classification was the best among men Wroclaw University of Technology, and among women – University of Rzeszów. The legendary route on Paulinum gathered nearly 250 starters representing 40 colleges from entire the Polish.
The route was unusually interesting and difficult how agreed to the rank of the Polish Championship, also the rain falling at night effectively soaked base, by what had put a lot of energy in overcoming driveways, and the descent to keep great attention – said on the finish the best amongst students of Technical Universities Piotr Kurczab. Fortunately on Sunday during the race the weather was already good, was warm, and a sun broke through the clouded sky what supported the bitter rivalry.
Marek Konwa which represented Wrzechnica Świetokrzyska in Kielce defended the championship title – he won conclusively, it is currently the best mountain biker in Poland, Olympic athlete from London, world champion in the youth category. He overtook Piotr Kurczaba for 2.5 minute from the Technical Universities of Wrocław. Third to the finish of the race with the loss over 6 minutes was Marcin Kawalec , also from the Wrocław
Very strong team this year on „AMPach” was issued Technical Universities (Piotr Kurczab, Marcin Kawalec, Paweł Wojczal, Patryk Kaczmarczyk, Grzegorz Bem) which conclusively won the general team ranking of men outdistancing Silesian Technical University in Gliwice and the Technical Universities of Poznań, which for a few years already changed places on the podium, in the end sealing her success with.
Among women won the championship Katarzyna Solus-Miśkowicz which arrived to the finish from over 2.5 minute’s advantage over Marta Turoboś. Third on the finish line was Ewelina Szybiak representing the Rzeszów University losing to the winner almost 10 minutes! Last year’s champion, Weronika Rybarczyk, finished on 5th position.
Among women in the team classification triumphed University of Rzeszów, before the representation of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy in Krakow and Poznan University of Life Sciences.
The race route is largely coincided with a difficult, but very spectacular loop of the authorship for Maja Włoszczowska which every year is conducting her race in Jelenia Góra on Paulinum. Additionally, a rain falling on Friday and on Saturday during the played time trial which soaked base gave rivalry the taste what many drives were by difficult to leave. Despite everything participants they praised championships the organization, the route and the course of competition.
The organiser of the Academic Polish Championship in the mountain cycling was AZS and Grzegorz Miedziński known in the academe was a director of the race, organiser of series of the competition AZS MTB CUP and Eliminator-MTB.com. It is worthwhile adding that for a year in June on this route the best students will already measure themselves from the entire world – Jelenia Góra will be a host of the World University Championships 2014 in the mountain and road cycling.
